The first edition of the FIP Mallorca Open Cap Vermell Estate, a padel tournament organised by the Austria Padel Federation in collaboration with the International Padel Federation (FIP), will take place from 11th to 15th October in the Cap Vermell Country Club sports and leisure complex in Canyamel.
This is a doubles championship for male players in the FIP 500 category, one of the most prestigious on the international scene.
Padel is in fashion in Majorca, an island with almost 2,000 federated players. Despite it being a relatively modern sports discipline, within only a few years it has become one of the most played and attracts an increasing number of followers year after year. Evidence of this growth trend can be seen in the number of licences issued in the Balearics, which has multiplied by three in the last five years. Padel tennis was born in Mexico in 1962 and in the eighties spread through South America, with Spain and Argentina being the first countries to formalise it.
This is the first padel tournament sponsored by Cap Vermell Estate. In fact, this 1st FIP Mallorca Open forms part of a highly-dynamic plan initiated by Cap Vermell Group to support and promote sport. This activity is in addition to fomenting a healthy lifestyle, fostered and developed by Cap Vermell Country Club for over a year now through the organisation of numerous sporting activities and a healthy, balanced gastronomic choice.
The promotion of sport additionally complements the robust corporate social responsibility policy of Cap Vermell Group, which, over recent months, has carried out solidarity initiatives offering support to associations such as Projecte Home Balears, Abaimar, and others.
